Lyric PRO 8 Used in 3D NBA All-Star Weekend

In 2009 I blogged about 3D graphics from the NBA All-Star game. Chyron’s NAB booth was showing video of the graphics that used the Chyron Duet with a Lyric 3D plugin. Today I write about my own experience operating 3D graphics using Lyric PRO 8 during the 2011 NBA All-Star weekend.

Lyric PRO 8 has a simple setting to change the Chyron Duet’s output to 3D, it’s actually too simple. I love technology, but I always blew off 3D as a novelty that would pass. My mind has forever changed. I’m now a 3D junkie. Watching Blake Griffin dunk over a car in 3D was spectacular. Add graphics in 3D on top of that and that equals NBA’s slogan, Amazing.

Chyron has made it so easy to take 2D graphic designs and turn them into eye-popping 3D. Lyric’s 3D primitive builder can quickly get you started by adding current graphics and colors as textures. Within minutes your graphics will have that depth needed to look really good in 3D.

It was a great experience working a 3D production, and I can’t wait to work the next. My biggest surprise was the ability by selecting a few pulldown menus to change flat graphics into floating-in-front-of-your-face graphics. Chyron, I salute you and your Lyric PRO 8.
