The camera company that started out of a VW bus has moved into 3D space. GoPro has announced the 3D HERO System. It’s a $99 kit that houses two GoPro Hero cameras and syncs the video via a small connector. GoPro recently acquired CineForm, and is offering Cineform 3D software as a free download from their site.
This has to be one of the most affordable 1080p 3D options available for tight budgets. The 3D HERO System kit costs $99 and two cameras would cost $520. Consider the free GoPro Cineform Studio and it’s a great deal.
GoPro has a new section on their website named GoPro 3D Center. Here you’ll find way more info beyond just buying the gear. They have tutorials on how to use their free 3D software and they explain how to share and watch your 3D videos.
Since I’ve recently worked a 3D production my mind has completely changed on the success of 3D. I think it’s beyond a gimmick like I previously thought and will be successful. It may be just because I’m a huge TV technology geek. I really think affordable options like these will inspire people to create more content and in turn have better reasons to buy 3D TVs.
